- Maori artist Daniel Ormsby is a key figure in the evolution of Maori art who expresses himself through carving, painting or Ta Moko (traditional Maori tattooing). Others are a laborious, rationaled product conceived with design and purpose. Some are spontaneous bursts of almost arrogamt creativity. this is like a microscopic view of our flesh and sinews and bone etc. Totara is a metaphor for the human body. Does our true self reside in the body or the spaces between?
